Abstract/Summary:
As the mass media, the discourse power of movie is so considerable that it shouldbecome a important Form in reflecting history and meditating disasters. As the nationalcatastrophe, Nanjing Massacre is rarely presented on the screen. Though there areseveral films of Nanjing Massacre, various problems exist in it. So it is unqualified toreflect history and warn people. This paper selects the films of Nanjing Massacre as theresearch object and uses the method of history, politics science, communication, culturestudy and Film Linguistics. This paper analyzes and summarizes films of NanjingMassacre. Author deduces the “Semantic of film” from its “image of film”. This paper madefurther discussion about the problems in “Semantic of film”. These problems showconcretely as State Nationalism, Positivism, Heroism, utilitarianism, Cosmopolitanism andoutmoded notion and so on. All of these notions are the barriers and limitations when themovies try to reflect the Nanjing Massacre. In final, this paper tries to give reasonableadvice on restructuring Nanjing Massacre films on the base of developing the usefulnessand discarding the uselessness.
