Military Novels In The New Century Multidimensional Cultural Perspective

"Military novel" is a kind of literature that mainly describes war and the army life. Militarynovels in the new century include red war narrative in the seventeen years literature, militaryconsciousness awakening in the eighties and the creative transformation of nineties. After thefourth wave of creation in the mid-nineties, it continues to stride forward vigorously and showstemperament of multicultural confluence by connecting multicultural at this time. This articleanalyzed the creation of the military novels in the new century from multi-dimensional culturalperspective。Firstly, on the basis of reading numerous works, I analyzed the traditional aestheticcharacteristics in the content of military novels. From the point of subject, including the beautyof wisdom, weapons of war and military life, the beauty of the martial arts form and the beautyof life essence; From the point of characters, including heroes image mutate in the new context,rebellious hero, accidental hero, wandering hero, idol hero; From the point of subject, includingheartache and compassion when nationals suffered, great hatred to the invaders, the deepesthopes of country rich and regression to victims in war times.Secondly, this paper pays attention to the form of works, mainly analyzes the learning fromwestern modernist techniques, namely the "existentialism" in writing position,"symbolism" asthe performance skills,"realistic" illusion represented by Moyan, and the unprecedented readingexperience to readers by black humor and absurdity language violence. To illustrate that the artand methods of western modernism in promoting the prosperity of the new century militarynovels has cannot ignore effect.Third, from the angle of propagation and acception, this paper focuses on the currentmilitary novels in mass culture context and produces some variation. Including demystifymysterious special forces pushed by mass culture psychology and cast off simple under theintervention of popular film and television communication. We pointed out that the cooperationof novel and media, the marriage of film and television represented military novels in the newera are developing with the help of new media. Network military novels are transforming fromvirtual fantasy to reality.Finally, I compare “gain” and “loss” according to creation of military novels in the new century from perspective of cultural diversity."Gain" means that military novels performdiversity by means of confluence of tradition and modern, local and western, text and networktelevision. Abundant works prop up the energy of the military novels, making it has a value thatcannot be ignored in the history of literature."Lost" means that many works ignored seriousnessof war and became vulgarization. Behind the seemingly prosperous creation, real pure andhigh-quality literature are not so much, it may hides crisis of continued ascension in terms of itsdevelopment prospects.
