Therefore, in order to look into the literary expression effects of the function words of the Records of the Grand Historian, one must base on the sentence, get through the context, grasp the historical figures and events evaluation standpoint and insights, and then back to the specific text, context, and function word. After such a macro to micro, and thoroughly pondering of the function word, we found the use of function words by Sima Qian is very exquisite; he never abuses any word, also refuses easily imposing any word. With every word, embodies Sima Qian’s intense emotion of love and hatred, greatly enhance the lyrical meaning of the Records of the Grand Historian, which is an important aspect of the Records of the Grand Historian.This article mainly analyzes from the monosyllabic words, The double syllable reduplication words, and Function words in sentences of the Records of the Grand Historian three domain. Revealing writer’s rich emotions which are hidden behind the function word by examining it meticulously. The thesis consists of three chapters:Chapter one, The literature use of monosyllabic function words in the Records of the Grand Historian, mainly discusses the literary expression effects of the five monosyllabic words:" Yi"," Yu"," Jing "," Nai"," Ran"." Yi" as the word used at the end of the sentence, normally representing sigh. But with the specific context, this exclamation can be used as appreciated or pleased sigh, sigh with regrets, disappointments, panic sigh, teasing taunt sigh, different forms of sigh, etc... Same for "Yu "," Jing "," Nai "," Ran " four words, in different contexts, the effect of the expression can be different as well, conveys the author different emotions.
