Comparison is one of the most common cognitive process of human beings, it is an important means for them to get to know the world. The grammatical meaning of comparison comes into being when the relation of comparison between entities is reflected in language. As an important part of the fomulae of comparison, the comparison of equality occurs in both English and Chinese. However, the exact semantic category and syntactic patterns are not totally the same. Therefore, the diversity and asymmetry of these patterns in both Chinese and English make the comparison of equality patterns so important in Chinese teaching.Due to the difference between Chinese and English. Some English-speaking learners will be influenced by Negative Transfer and made some errors with similar characteristics. In order to find the reason of those errors and help students master the Chinese quality comparison patterns better, it is necessary to have a deep research of this pattern from the degree of syntactic, semantic and pragmatic points. In this paper, the theory of comparative analysis method is used to achieve the following objectives:exploring the individuality and commonality of English and Chinese; having a deeper understanding of the characteristics of equality comparison of English and Chinese; helping students reduce their errors when using Chinese equality comparison and conquer the negative migration in Chinese learning.This essay is divided into four parts. The first part explained the definition of equality comparison in Chinese and English and had a review of the study about Chinese and English equality comparison patterns. The second part explained the similarity and difference of the equality comparison structure in the degrees of relations of comparison, syntactic characteristics and ellipsis. In the third part Chinese equality comparison expression was divided into three patterns, the errors made by English speaking students when using these three patterns was analyzed. The forth part analyzed the reason why these errors were made and gave some teaching suggestions.
