Idiom is the treasure of Chinese culture, which reflects the splendid culture of Chinese nation. Idiom is the key of teaching Chinese as a second language (TCSL). Foreign students are not good at learning Chinese idioms and often make mistakes in different levels. In this paper, juxtaposed idiom errors made by European and American students are mainly analyzed, aiming at applying the research results into teaching idiom effectively.Under the guidance of inter-language theory, error analysis theory and cognitive theory, starting from teaching materials, the paper explores the general rule of acquisition of juxtaposed idioms based on juxtaposed idiom errors from HSK dynamic Composition Corpus and collected corpus at ordinary times. According to the different types of errors, the teaching suggestions are put forward. The introduction reviewed research results of the idiom teaching in TCSL from idiom error analysis, teaching method research and idiom dictionary compilation, which can be used to guide the idiom teaching. In chapter1, the types and features of idioms are introduced and three different types of juxtaposed idiom are analyzed, all of which lay foundation for the study of juxtaposed idioms referred in the following part.In chapter2, based on the prior theory, the juxtaposed idioms’ errors appearing in HSK dynamic Composition Corpus are analyzed. Secondly, European and American students’ juxtaposed idiom errors are divided into four types--form errors, semantic errors, grammar errors and pragmatic errors. Finally, the causes of the errors are analyzed. In chapter3, according to the causes of errors, the differences between Chinese and western culture are analyzed, then some suggestions are put forward, such as emphasizing idioms morpheme teaching, cultural infiltration and creating context teaching, aiming at promoting teaching of Chinese as a second language.
