20th Century was a period when music styles were changing quickly anda variety of genres came to the stage. Among all these musicians, as therepresentative of the new Vienna, Webern was one of the most influential andcreative composers. His works are rigorous, concise, elaborate designed andfocus on sound effects of unusual range.Webern’s composing career can be divided into stages; his former workswere mainly about atonal music while skills of atonal twelve-tone seriesfilled his later works, which were his most influential ones. Especially inhis terminal works he put some new artistic techniques and new way of thinkinginto his works, which were honored by composers of later generations.This article is a thorough analysis on his musical structure, prototypesequence, mirror structure, musical interval features, features ofpitch-class set, rhythm features, stipple, overall serialism based on twoof his most representative works Piano Variations op27and OrchestraVariations op30in order to find some creation features of Webern’s terminalworks. At the same time, I really hope that my research on Webern’s workscan help other reachers who determine to study Webern.
