Karl Popper’s “anti-historical determination”, the most controversial anddifficult issue in modern contemporary philosophy, directly destroys the foundationof Marx’s historical materialism, as he illustrated in “The Poverty of Historicism”and “The Open Society and Its Enemies”. The paper analyses Popper’s internal logicthat using the points that social history is Irregular, non-repetitive and indeterminismand the methodology of anti-holism to deny the historical materialism, and thenpoint out the origin of Popper’s theoretical shortcomings. The strong criticismresponds Popper’s challenges and digs the thoughts of the founder. The paper iscomposed of five chapters includes the Introduction, main body and the conclusion. The chapter1that includes the background, innovation points and significancemainly introduces the focus of the research and points out issues relevant. The chapter2criticizes Popper’s “anti-historical determination” which startsfrom arguing that the history is Irregular. Furthermore, this chapter is divided intothree parts to criticize Popper’s three arguments that no laws of evolution exists, thesocial has a trend of change, and the law is unconditional. The chapter3systemly analyses Popper’s basic point of history reproducibilityin which he denied the reproducibility from dynamism, singular proposition andaccuracy. Many theorists from domestic and overseas are trying to seek the answers ofthe very question. However, such researches either too simple, or just discuss thepure theatrical details. The chapter4criticizes the historical indeterminism, in which Popper arguesthat the historical understanding was subjective, scientific forecasting wasconditional and the growth of knowledge is uncertain. The last chapter criticizes Popper’s anti-holism, which is divided into threeparts: Marxism is not holist, whether the whole is the subject of the scientificresearch and whether human can control and transform the society overall.
