Since1971, Rawls’“Theory of Justice” was officially published, the discussionof justice issues between international and domestic academic discussion is veryfierce. Looking at the "A Theory of Justice," we can see that the core issue of justiceis equal, and the understanding of Rawls’ theory of Justice must be based onfiguring out his view of equality.During the process of criticizing the classical utilitarian concept of equality andthe inheritance of the social contract theory, Rawls gradually formed his basic idea ofthe concept of equality. Rawls argues, the main problem of classical utilitarianism isthat overly emphasis on the polymerization of good, while ignoring the gooddistribution. Utilitarianism stresses the best interests of the majority, but ignore ordamage the interests of the small number people. Rawls studied the distribution ofgood then, that is, distributive justice, should also pay attention to avoid damage totheir interests and maximize the interests of a small number of people. in the criticalprocess of classical social contract theory, Rawls inherited their hypothetical, assumedthe "original position" and "veil of ignorance" justice, then choose voluntaryprinciples of justice, it contains and embodies the principles of justice and equalityideology. The equality ideology in Rawls “Theory of Justice”, can mainly analyze fromthree aspects: First, justice assumption of equality is the premise for the equality idea, that means the purpose of justice on the assumption is the achievement of equality."original position" is a kind of assumption initially equal status, at the background oforiginal position,"veil of ignorance" means that people do not know their social status, their natural talent, the concept of "good", and the special social environment andother circumstances they are in, they only know the general social fact of our society, such as political affairs and social and economic principles, and the basic socialorganizations and human psychology principles. In the environment of freedom andequality, it is generally to make the right choices. The second one is the equalityideology in the principles of justice, including freedom, equality, equality of opportunity and equality in difference principles. Third, the idea of equality in theapplication of the principles of justice, mainly for equality in the system of justice, procedural justice and substantive justice equality, and the justice of the principle ofequal contribution.Rawls equality ideology has epoch-making significance. Because in the view ofmany scholars and experts and scholars, freedom and equality are two irreconcilablecontradiction, but for Rawls, freedom and equality is reconciliation, which is thefreedom and equality of a major discovery, he achievement is the conversion of thetheme of the times from the free to equality.. The equality ideology of Rawls forChinese society also has an important reference. Such as Rawls-democratic equality, procedural equality ideological impact on Chinese society quest for equality. Rawlsequality ideology, however, there are also limitations, such as his theory of justice isultimately not be able to achieve true reconciliation of freedom and equality, in the"veil of ignorance", the equality of the distribution in certain deficiencies departmentis not perfect.
