Legal Issues Several International Oil And Gas Pipeline Projects

All the countries in the world have noticed the significance of the oil and gas asstrategic energy. The uneven distribution of these resources contributes to theinevitable cross-border transportation and trading. Then the international oil and gaspipelines emerge as the times require; China-Burma oil and gas pipeline is amongthem. China-Burma oil and gas pipeline project goes from the west coast of Burma toSouthwest China, which is planned and constructed by the governments of China andBurma. This project not only brings huge economic profits but also strengthen thepolitical interests. Therefore, anticipating the legal issues exist in this project andtaking preventive measures are of great significance. Through the operation mode ofChina-Burma oil and gas pipeline, this thesis makes an analysis of the related legalnexus and explores the legal issues that may come along including financing, EPCcontracts and dispute settlement and put forward the corresponding countermeasures,offering references for future legal issues may occur in other international oil and gaspipeline projects of China and other countries.The paper is divided into three parts, the author first puts forward the concept ofinternational oil and gas pipelines, classification and significance, thus leads to theparticularity of China-Burma oil and gas pipelines. The second part involves the legalrelationship of oil and gas pipelines, to explore the main legal problems of thepipeline and put forward solutions. Finally the China-Burma oil and gas pipelineproject bring us enlightenment. Believe both pipeline and other internationalengineering projects, the enlightenment have its great significance.
