With the rapid advancement of industrialization and urbanization in our country, the rural collective land has been largely expropriated by the government. Social contradictions caused by the land expropriarition have become increasingly prominent and have drawn enough attention from all social factors. With the growing number of land-lost peasants, the land problem has become the center of farmers’ rights protection. Due to the imperfection of China’s current land expropriation system and poor benefits experession system, more and more peasants tends to select non-institutionalized ways to maintain their rights. This phenomenon results in the high occurrence probability of rural group envents in China and seriously affects our country’s rural social stability and development.On the basis of the existing research results, this thesis chooses non-institutionalized political participation of land-lost peasants as its research perspective. Through the in-depth analysis of three case materials concerning land-lost peasants’ patterns of maintaining their rights, it spreads out exposition for means, methods, characteristics, the development trend and positive significance of the land-lost peasants’ collective struggle for maintaining their rights in order to reveal the deep-seated reasons that make land-lost peasants choose non-institutionalized political participation. Furthermore, on the basis of this, the author puts forward some feasible countermeasures and suggestions to build an orderly and effective benefits expression mechanism of land-lost peasants.According to the arrangement of this paper structure, it comprises five parts:Chapter1is the Introduction. It mainly introduces the purpose and significance of this thesis and reviews the research results of foreign and domestic scholars, meanwhile, pointing out the research ideas, research framework and research methods of this study.Chapter2is devoted to theoretical interpretations of some concepts related to the research questions. The author attempts to redefine some core concepts like "land-lost peasants","political participation" from the doctrinal perspective, especially making a detailed elaboration on the ways and classifications of political participation of land-lost peasants.Chapter3deals with a detailed analysis of the current situation of non-institutionalized political participant of land-lost peasants. Three typical cases of special patterns of maintaining rights are selected as its analysis perspectives--collective petition, take to the street and network mobilization. Through the analysis, this thesis hackles the characteristics and development trend of non-institutionalized political participation of land-lost peasants.Chapter4, the core part of this paper, lays emphasis on detailed analysis of reasons that cause the non-institutionalized political participation of land-lost peasants. It is divided into four parts to carry on the analysis:firstly, defects of the current land expropriation system; Secondly, there are some legal defects in some stipulations or provisions of the Land Management Law; thirdly, misunderstandings of maintenance of stability under pressurized system still exists in grass-roots goverments; lastly, the non-institutionalized political participation of land-lost peasants is deeply affected by traditional political cultural factors such as suvival ethics and the deep-rooted concept that the law fails where violators are legion, etc..Chapter5proposes some ways to improve the non-institutionalized political participation of land-lost peasants in our country in light of several reasons resulting in the non-institutionalized political participation. At first, the thesis analyses the necessity of resolving the non-institutionalized political participation of land-lost peasants. Then, mainly starting from these four aspects-perfecting the systems of land expropriation, improving the benefits expression mechanism of land-lost peasants, innovating the local governments’ concepts of maintaining stability and enhancing land-lost peasants’ political participation ability and organizational level, the author puts forward some feasible countermeasures and suggestions to improve the non-institutionalized political participation of land-lost peasants.
