With the development and change of social politics, economic, and the growingpopulation of the city, people’s standard of living is becoming better and better. As aresult, the amount of waste is increasing. Relatively speaking, the workload ofsanitation workers is growing, too. As a fact, the sanitation workers are facing with lotsof problems like long time working, wide working range, high working intensity, highrisk, poor working environment and the minimum living security, etc. To a certainextent, it has really played a role on the development of city environmental work.Environmental sanitation industry is labor intensive. Sanitation workers areessential factors for the industry. Their job satisfaction will directly influence theirbehavior, and then affect their work performance. Therefore, in environmentalsanitation industry, there is more apparent relationship between job satisfaction andperformance of working. Thus, what is the condition at present and the relationshipbetween the two factors? How to enhance job satisfaction and work performance? Theseare issues that current environmental managements need to resolve.With the research object of sanitation workers, this study is aimed to solve theabove questions. This paper discusses the present situation of the sanitation workers’jobsatisfaction and work performance, and the reasons that cause the situation. The resultof the study aims to provide reference for environmental managers to encourage andattract sanitation workers and to improve their job satisfaction and work performance,and then to ensure the quality of environmental cleaning and beautify the city.
