Mongolia has one of the nomadic countries located in Central Asia. During early1990, the socio-economic transition from the socialist to a market economy. During improvement of way to industrialization, Mongolia faced challenges of balancing local socio-economic, political and ecological priorities in the pursuit of the principles of the sustainable development. Mongolia has begun to develop a sustainable development strategy and actions from Rio Summit in1992.In1987, United Nations World Environment and Development Committee definition of sustainable development is known as "Development that meets the needs of the present generation without adversely affecting the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." Environmental Impact Assessment introduced as an important tools of sustainable development which is make better by avoiding, identifying and mitigating potential negative environmental impacts.Since the20th century around80’s, Mongolia has begun rapid socio-economic development, but it brings a lot of environmental problems, while causing widespread public concern. Therefore, it needs to must consider environmental issues and environmental impact assessment system, while the process of social and economic development of Mongolia. But problem is how to develop Mongolia’s environmental impact assessment same as an international standard? This is a way to solve problem around environmental protection in Mongolia.In this study, access to relevant information to explain of environmental impact assessment system, analyze the situation, problems of implementation of the international environmental impact assessment system and the environmental impact assessment system in Mongolia. In order to further improve the environmental impact assessment system in Mongolia made the following suggestions:(1) to improve the principles of the EIA law;(2) to expand the EIA objects;(3) to make strengthen law enforcement and improve the EIA implementation rate;(4) to build training system for local expert and improve their knowledge;(5) to enhance technology standard system and information management;(6) to build EIA agencies.
