A Research On The Mass Line Of Colleges And Universities

Mass line is the fundamental political line of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and a good tradition and a working method of the Chinese Communists as well. It is an important part that the Party has combined the basic principles of Marxism with practical situations of China. At last, it becomes a part of Marxism that has been localized in China. Since the first leadership generation, especially Mao Zedong, the core of our first generation of collective leadership, founded the mass line. The following leaders of the CPC have been innovating and developing the mass line. In the course of time, Marxism’mass view has been shaped. Thus it can be said that the history of the Chinese Communist Party is the process of formation and perfection of the Party’s mass line.Universities and colleges are important centers of nurturing talents, and they need to perform a special historical mission, namely nurturing talents to construct the nation. So, the ruler and center to implement the mass line in universities is to serve the students and teachers wholeheartedly, who are the main objects in mass work. In this paper, I begin with the mass line meaning and its theoretical and practical basics. And then, through teasing out the Party’s mass line historical development, the paper pays attention to its practical significance for which the Party in colleges and universities ought to implement the mass line in the current. At the basis of the former, the paper summarized the current challenges which the universities are facing when adhering to the mass line. There are many challenges the colleges and universities’ mass work is facing, including Western ideological infiltration, people’s diversified interests and values and the level of the Communists’construction and cadres’, and so on. It is a major research task before the Party members that how to enhance the effectiveness of adhering to the mass line and to carry out mass work fruitfully. Colleges and universities in Fujian has launched a campaign.It requires that the administrative cadres should interview all teachers and that teachers should interview all students. All Communists should try to be outstanding members and strive for being the best organization of party in colleges. Teachers should try to be great ones and promote the development of the education. It gives us a new perspective. In this paper, I take this campaign for example and analyze the characteristics of the activity. By the means of combining it in the ways of innovations on patterns of function, carriers, mechanisms, I try to establish and improve long-term mechanisms to follow the mass line, and to extract the optional and operable breakthroughs from the research. We also can find some general principles that the mass work should follow faithfully in colleges and universities.
