At the beginning of twenty-first century, the population growth rate has been effectively controlled. And population structure has become one of hot topics. For example, imbalanced composition of population by sex, aging, etc. The reason is that it has great significance on development of a region whether its population structure is reasonable or not. Industrial structure of employment has effect on the development of three industries. Urban and rural structure of population affects urbanization level. Comparison of population with various education attained influences regional human resources and social construction of spiritual civilization. And all of these will directly influence the development speed and level of regional economic. Therefore, it is definitely certainty that the development speed of the urbanization level and regional economic of Inner Mongolia autonomous region can be accelerated through adopting corresponding measures to optimize the population structure after analysis of the differences among twelve cities in the population structure of Inner Mongolia. Firstly, the concepts, theories and literatures about population structure had been overviewed. Secondly, author describes the status of total population, population density, sexual structure of population, population structure by age group, industrial structure of employment, urban and rural structure of population, comparison of population with various education attained, and population structure by ethnicity of Inner Mongolia autonomous region and twelve cities. Then analysis on the characteristics of population structure of Inner Mongolia autonomous region was given. Thirdly, this essay evaluates the overall level of population structure in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region from2001to2010with factor analysis by taking the population structure described in the previous section of as a date base. And then author evaluates the population structure at0:00on November1,2010of twelve cities with factor analysis by taking the results of sixth population census in2011as a date base. Next, comprehensive analysis and comparison on population structure in twelve cities, together with the optimized suggestions, had been carried out. Finally, summarizes and main conclusions, together with some policy suggestions, had been put forward.
