Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is located in the northern frontier of the motherland of China. Its territory is vast, which is most made up of plateau and mountains. The development characteristics of the natural environment more obvious and, the local natural resources and social and cultural landscape are rich, but the eco-structure is fragile. So it is one of less developed areas inhabited by ethnic minorities in the economic development. Among the factors of the constraints to the economic development in Inner Mongolia, the quality of the population is the key to the sustainable economic development. In the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the main body of the population is Mongolians, the development of the Mongolian population in Inner Mongolia is also affecting the economic and social development. Mongolians live on the vast grasslands in the north of China for a long time and their main economic activities are agriculture and animal husbandry. Before the founding of new China, the Mongolian socio-economic development is quite slow. Because of the natural disasters and medical conditions and other factors, demographic changes reflected in the high-born rate, high death rate, and low natural growth. After the liberation of China, as a result of the development of medical and health undertakings and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, this situation has been a fundamental change. According to previous national census data, the Mongolian populations in the years of 1953, 1982, 1990 and 2000 were 999,700; 2,489,300; 3,379,700, and 3,995,300. With the country's socio-economic development and the Chinese Communist Party's preferential policies to help ethnic minority areas, the Mongolian population, economic and cultural aspects have been developed rapidly. About the cultural and educational point of view, by the year 2000, the population of the Mongolians with university education level was 422 people per 10 thousand people. In the population of the industrial structure of the economic activities, the high proportion of the population was the population in agriculture, forestry, water conservancy, animal husbandry and fishery industry, though there was a downward trend, from the 1982 to 1990, a decrease of 3.47 percentage points appeared; from 1990 to 2000, there was an upward trend with an increase of 0.38 percentage points. However, there are still a lot of problems, methods of statistical analysis are used in this article and a large number of raw data are collected and collated groups; the methods of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis are used in the analysis of the Mongolian population, age, gender, industry employment, education, the urban and the rural ,natural region, geographical, administrative district and other changes in the structure of the current situation and the factors of population changes. The problems among the socio-economic development of the Mongolian population are summed up and some feasible countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.
