A Study About "Interpretations Of Xiaoxue"Which Was Written By Boxing Zhang

"Interpretations OfXiaoxue" is an enlighten book written by Boxing Zhang who is a famous minister and moralist at the beginning of Qing Dynasty. It bringing together Boxing Zhang’s experiences about "Xiaoxue" after he read it for decades. Xiaoxue is a book lead to Confucianism, or a book which contains basic moralistic theory. It emphasizes that we have to constraint ourself in heart, then get the understandings about the world and the society, at the same time, we get power to manage the society. The interpretations written by Boxing Zhang have new content in the period, which emphasize cultivating virtue by putting into practice. The interpretations about original text reflects the development of Confucianism as represented by Zhus’ theory in the Qing Dynasty.It is important to discuss it in the period of history of thought as it propagated. At present, it havn’t been discussed in this period.This dissertation discuss this book from two aspects:First, clearly reviews the compiling process, the goal of writer, stylistic rules and layout of the book, and the different editions during its coming down course.Second, analysis in depth about the content.
