A Research On The Teaching Connection Between The Compulsory Course And Elective Course For High School Chemistry Under The New Curriculum System

As an important part of high school education, chemistry courseplays an irreplaceable role during the formation of scientific literacy andthe overall development of students. In New Curriculum Standard, thechemistry courses are divided into Selected Course and Required Course.At the same time, in the New Curriculum Standard, teachers are requiredto pay attention to the interface between the senior and junior high schoolchemistry courses. Required Course is the basis of Selected Course, andSelected Course is the extension and expansion of Required Course.Overall, the high school chemistry teaching is a holistic sustainableconvergence course. So it is necessary to link up the Selected Course andRequired Course to eliminate the phenomenon above and to build ascientific and comprehensive system of quality education in line.However, in the current teaching there are lacks of compulsory andelective teaching between the Selected Course and Required Course,which affects the effectiveness of high school chemistry teaching. Ofcourse, the convergence between the Selected Course and RequiredCourse are based on some theories, as Constructivist learning theory andChemistry curriculum standards. Through the implementation of theappropriate survey, the authors consider that there are objective andsubjective reasons. The subjective reasons are lacking of teachers andstudents’ quality, and the objective reasons are set of teaching materialand teaching concepts.Also, the Selected Course and Required Course of senior highschool chemistry teaching are interrelated and growing. As therequirement of the current New Chemistry Curriculum Standard, there arediscriminations of Module settings, Teaching objectives and Functionalorientation. In the new Chemistry Curriculum Standard, he SelectedCourse and Required Course are both important parts of the high school chemistry education. Also, the lacks of compulsory and elective teachingbetween the Selected Course and Required Course make it difficult toachieve real teaching chemistry curriculum standards and socialdevelopment needs for high quality talent. So it is necessary to think anddiscuss the convergence of he Selected Course and Required Course. Inthis paper, the author thinks that it is necessary to take comprehensivemeasures from the following five aspects: to improve the self-learningability of students, to improve the literacy of teachers, to expand andimprove the relevant chemical materials, to establish the correct teachingphilosophy and to improve and expand the existing teaching methods.
