As the main carrier of mathematics curriculum, mathematicstextbooks are the main way to carry out mathematics education. Themathematics textbooks in different periods reflect to some degree thedevelopment situation of those periods. Mathematics textbooks reflect notonly ideas about mathematics education but also the situation of thesociety development and the change of people. Especially, the reform ofmathematics textbooks is the core of the reform of mathematicscurriculum as well as one of the focus points of mathematics educationdevelopment. One of the Pythagorean Theorem content arrangement is noexception. But the Pythagorean Theorem has never been away from it,the opposite is that increases content, increase class, the more and more tobe valued, and also add into the history of mathematics knowledge, it isvery easy for students to study the Pythagorean Theorem this chapter, andstimulate mathematics learning motivation, cultivate students’ innovationconsciousness.Based on the study of theory and evidence, the paper manages toshow the development history of the late modern time mathematicstextbooks by literature retrieval way and text analytic method. The paper focuses on making up the mathematics textbooks published in the latemodern times and analyzing some typical mathematics textbooks.This thesis is divided into four chapters, as follows:Chapter one: Introduction. Elaborated on topics of purpose, meaning,research methods, innovations and introduction.Chapter second, the factors of evolution in influencing onmathematics textbook in middle school. Mainly from the external factors(including political change, economic change, cultural change) and theinternal factors (including education development, the middle schoolgeometry system development), in order to describe content developmentin the mathematics textbooks of middle school for this two aspects.Chapter third, the research of the evolution of the PythagoreanTheorem content arrangement from five periods in high schoolmathematics textbooks. It means that: the period of studying the Soviet;the period of "mathematics education modernization"; the period of"cultural revolution"; the period of recovery; implement nine years ofcompulsory education since.Chapter four, Conclusion. The textbooks reform from the history ofthe development in the mathematics textbooks. By comparing the presentpress of Beijing normal university with the press of people’s education, itfind out the insufficiency of the Pythagorean Theorem contentarrangement in mathematics textbook of junior middle school.
