Case Social Work Intervention Study On City Street Children In China

In recent years, the problem of city street children has become a social problem can not be ignored in China. China wants to create a harmonious society and accelerate the modernization construction, the city street children problem must be solved. The causes of the problem of city street children are multifaceted. Economic poverty and family dysfunction are the main causes of the problem of city street children. Misconduct of school education is also an important reason for the formation of city street children. Some children are abducted by criminals in society, leading to living on the streets.And,some children, because of their own undound personality development, or addicted to online games can not extricate themselves or their serious rebellion leading them run away from home, are eventually reduced to street children. At present, the problem of city street children is becoming more and more serious. It has an important relationship with our country’s imperfect social security assistance mechanism. The research on the problem of city street children has reached many achievements among scholars both at home and abroad, which has played a significant role in promoting the rescue of the city street children. But most scholars are studied from macro, which have more researches on the theory while less studies on the specific operability. This paper analysis the causes and characteristics of city street children and uses the professional social work methods to carry out case social work practices for city street children. Through deeply understanding and grasping the characteristics of city street children, using professional social work methods to provide services, applying the "people-oriented" concept of social work to the case work. We want to change the defect of traditional relief mode, more emphasize on humanistic care, grasp the essence of urban street children, understand the needs of service objects from their own perspective, and provide needs and help through the professional social work services. All of these are designed to fundamentally solve the problem of city street children, to help them enhance their ability and establish correct outlook on life, world outlook and values.This paper summarizes the case social work practices of city street children and makes several conclusions and recommendations:(1)Case social work intervenes the rescue of city street children based on mutual respect. City street children are a special group. They are eager to respect and understand more than others, more afraid of criticism. The social worker should uphold the "people-oriented" concept to carry out rescue work and sincerely respect and accept city street children.(2)To carry out case social work should pay attention to the psychological particularity of urban street children. City street children are a special group. Most of them are in a critical period of physical and psychological development. Their mental development is not perfect, coupled with the experience of stray, their psychological features are different from the normal children. Their hearts are more fragile, so in the intervention process, we should start from the psychological characteristics of city street children. Only in this way can we understand their true heart, can make the case work effective.(3)To strengthen the follow-up of the casework. Because of the short time that city street children stay in the rescue center and fluidity big, the effect of casework intervention is often not very good. Therefore, in order to achieve the "one rescue, one success ", we have to do the follow-up work well, to establish contact with the Service objects’ family, school, community, and to know the rope and do the follow-up service in time.(4) To strengthen the professional quality of social workers and promote the process of indigenization of social work. To better help city street children and effectively play the role of social casework rescue, there must be a professional team of social work, while professional quality and ability is particularly critical. At the same time, we need to vigorously publicize the case social work, increase people’s awareness and acceptance, and promote the localization process of the case social work.
