Problems And Countermeasures Of Social Work Service For Street Children Assistance

The promulgation of the new aid management measures has added a new service method to social assistance for street children-social work services.Although social work services have injected more humanized connotations into the rescue work for street children,the phenomenon of street children especially repeated vagrancy is still serious.This requires us to rethink the current social work services.This paper takes X assistance station in Chongqing as an example,through case study method,interview method for collect data.The analysis finds that children escaping from home does not only come from they are ask for independence and freedom,desire for a prosperous city,but also their promotion from the family,school,and society.When children take to the streets under the combined effect of thrust and pull,they also face various risks.Therefore,the service needs of street children are complicated and diversified.They not only need the most basic physiological and security services,but also need a higher level of service in terms of love and belonging,respect,and self-realization.However,summing up the social work service at the assistance station has formed a wealth of basic services such as life education,safety education,and gender education,and has formulated different service strategies according to different groups of street children,jointly with other departments and professionals workers to participate in rescue work of repeated street children.While it is still appear some problems in service work like service evaluation polarization,service demand response selection,services provide McDonaldization,lack of service cross-professional cooperation,lack of service follow-up visit support,and insignificant service effect."The best interests of children(adolescents)" in terms of service value is insufficient implementation,lack of service theory,lack of service skills,limited service resources,weak status of service providers,and policy gaps in service implementation are the reasons for the social work service problems.On this basis,in order to promote the development of social services for street children,some countermeasures and suggestions have been put forward in terms of service value,capabilities and resources.
