No matter the quality education or the new round of basic education reform, they both particularly pointed out that we should emphasize on the cultivation of the students’ ability, which is also aimed at the disadvantages of traditional education. According to this request, education theorists, practitioners, scholars have made a lot of effort, such as innovation ability, independent learning ability and so on, all having reached great achievement. However, individual ability is multifaceted. Although some ability qualities haven’t systematic and in-depth research in academia, they are also the important factors that influence learners’ learning effectiveness. According to the author’s many years of learning experience, the author finds that summary is a kind of effective means to enhance learning effect. However, students generally do not have this ability, due to a lack of specific guidance. Therefore, according to the needs of practice and the theoretical research gap, the author makes a research on the problem, hoping that it will be helpful to future research. This paper consists of five parts:the significance of the summary ability in the development of the primary school students; the basic problems of the summary ability; the basic process of the development of the summary ability; the promotion strategies of the children’ summary ability; the promotion conditions of the children’ summary ability.
