With the rise of Girls’ and Boys’ High Schools in Beijing, Shanghai and other bigcities in recent years, some new understandings about the democratization anddiversification of education seem to have come upon us and gender education hasbeen a hot topic in the field of education. Therefore, Girls’ High School, an importantpart in gender education, has become the focus of attention of the public once again.Curriculum is the basis of and the supporter for the school education, which is atthe service for certain cultivating objectives. Girls’ High School is a kind of single-sexeducation. Due to the specific characteristics of students in Girls’ High School, thesetting of curriculum should have its own characteristics, which is the key to the riseand fall of the Girls’ High School. In the context of curriculum reform in Chinanowadays, the setting of Girls’ High School’s curriculum has undoubtedly become thefocus of attention of the public. However, the implementation of single-sex educationin China is still at the exploratory stage, which lacks of in-depth researches.The United States, as the only superpower in the world, its education system hasalways been focused by educationalists and researchers in China. In addition,nowadays Girls’ High School in the United States is not the previous lady educationany more, and it has gone through curriculum reforms in the context of new times.Therefore, girls’ education reveals new vitality. Given this, this thesis teases out thesetting of curriculum of Girls’ High School in the United States systematically,including revealing an overview of the curriculum setting, summarizing thecharacteristics of the curriculum setting and exploring the theoretical basis. In the end,it gives some suggestions to the education reform of high schools in China throughdetailed analyses of special courses of some Girls’ High Schools in the US.
