The Analysis On Information Behavior Of Migrant Workers In Developed Rural Area

Migrant workers in developed rural area refers to the labors who have come from less-developed area but work and live in the developed rural area doing simple or repetitive laboring works. The number of people in this group has been growing rapidly while its disadvantages have not got our attention. Improving the information service level can help to guarantee the social equality and protect the right of the disadvantaged group in the information science area.This group faces different kinds of problems concerning politics, economy, culture which are all related to information science. If their information need is not fulfilled, lots of problem will come out. This paper take the southern area of Jiangsu province and Quanzhou in Fujian province as examples to make quantitative and qualitative analysis about the information behavior of the migrant workers using questionnaire survey. In the end, it gives some suggestion to improve the information service system in developed rural area.The first, it researches the information behavior of migrant workers with literature.Then, referring to some relevant theory and practice result it researches their behavior in different sides, such as concept, constitute factor, influencing factor and models. The second, it does a questionnaire survey in two different ways, which are from out coming area and incoming area. The third, basing on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and sense-making theory and using the method of KANO survey, it studies migrant workers’ information need and finds out the most important three information need. The fourth, it analyzes the migrant workers’information-getting patterns, the complexity to get different kinds of information. After that, basing on the Wilson model and Chatman theory and using the method of multi-factor analysis of variance, it chooses eight factors which influence information behavior mostly.The aim of this paper is to get the way of providing better information service. It gives some suggestions to information resourse construction basing on the study of information need, and provide several suggestions to information service mode basing on the analyses of information access and its influencing factor.
