Since the end of20th century, the number and scale of higher institutions expanded dramatically and our country entered into the age of popularization of higher education. At the same time, a variety of problems of higher education gradually appeared. How to ensure and improve the quality of higher education becomes a serious question which causes our attention. Subjects are the fundaments of teaching and research in higher institutions. Teaching and research cannot live without the support of subjects, and performing high institutions’ functions will come to be empty words. The level of subject is the main feature of higher institutions’ level. The higher institutions’strength, basically, depends on the ability of its subjects. Therefore, continuously improving subject construction and enhancing the subject level are the keys of educational quality upgrading. As the special part of higher educational system, in our country, minority universities have been obtaining great attention of CCP and the government. Among several Chinese minority universities, Minzu University of China is the only comprehensive minority university which has entered the "211Project" and "985Project" and listed in National Key Construction Universities. The subject construction quality of Minzu University of China is directly associated with the overall educational level of Chinese minority higher institutions, even the Chinese minority educational business development and improvement.This thesis discusses the subject construction and development of Minzu University of China by using literature research method, historical approach and interview method comprehensively. On one hand the research interprets the modern universities and subjects theoretically, including the rise of modern universities and the subject development, the nature of subjects and the status of college subjects which lays a solid theoretical foundation for this thesis. On the other hand, the research combs the establishment and development of college subjects based on the actual situation of Minzu University of China. Then, the subject construction of Minzu University of China is analyzed and studied in depth and the achievement on construction and development of the university is summarized, including subject system and structure, academic team, scientific research, personnel training, hardware platform, etc. Further analysis of the causes and experience of the achievement obtained has been done and improvement suggestions have been put forward according to the problems of subject construction.The study on the subject construction and development of Minzu University of China is not only beneficial for improving the general education level of the university, but also is meaningful for the promotion and development of Chinese minority university subject construction, which is significant for the long-term development of minority higher education.
