CALL, being part of CAI, is an activity of foreign language teaching and research aided by the computer technology basing on the computer by the teachers. CALL is an important topic that was studied by many educational workers in recent years, which changed the traditional teaching concept because of its own advantages. It not only provided a new method for education, but also was a challenge.Under the guide of constructive theory, the author makes investigation in the Junior Middle School so as to understand the basic situation of CALL in Junior Middle School English teaching and try to make further study, and explore how to make full use of the CALL in Junior Middle School in order to improve the teaching quality, this is also the significance of the thesis.This thesis mainly adopts questionnaires, interview, tests, and classroom observation. The subjects are from the second experimental middle school of Neihuang, the students are divided into two parts: experimental class and control class, and this experiment lasted one term. In order to ensure the reliability of the experiment, the author conducted the test before the experiment, the test results showed their was no differences between the experimental class and control class, after using CALL for one term, and then the students made post-test in the end of the term, the test results showed their was obvious differences between the experimental class and control class, which indicated CALL in English teaching has played a significant role in improving students’ learning effect.This research shows that the use of multimedia in Junior Middle School English teaching, although break the traditional teaching mode, improve the efficiency of the English class, its position and role are only of "auxiliary". In the process of teaching, teachers should choose the most appropriate multimedia in proper time so as to make full use of CALL.This thesis consists of five chapters, chapter one states the research background, research questions and research objectives, chapter two presents the literature review and three stages of CALL, chapter three illustrates the theoretical basis of CALL, chapter four describes the procedure of an experiment in Junior Middle School English class and the data collection and analysis, the last part is a conclusion part which not only summarizes the major findings of the study but also presents pedagogical implications and some limitations and suggestions for teaching.
