The development of computer network technology has promoted diversification of educational carrierand the establishment of e-learning environment makes web-based education be a driving developmenttrend. However, most of e-learning environments established currently are content-centric, overlooklearners’ individual factors, such as knowledge background and learning style, etc. and have repeatedconstruction and low rate of resource utilization problems, which are restricting the healthy development ofweb-based education. Therefore the research on personal learning environment (PLE) has become thecentre of attention, which can avoid repeated construction of e-learning environment, improve resourceutilization rate, respect learners’ individual difference and provide an individualized learning place.Recently, the popularization of Web2.0and cloud computing rising provide new opportunity for solving theabove problems. The research in this paper focuses on construction of PLE based on cloud computing.Following the learner-centered principle, the building ideas and system structure and functions wereanalyzed from the point of view of self-directed learning and individualized learning. The cloudcomputing-based PLE system has been established and empirical research and analysis have been carriedout.The key points contained in the paper are as follows:1. Detailed analysis of guide theory on PLE. In this paper, the feasibility of using constructivismtheory, humanism theory and multiple intelligence theory to direct PLE construction was deeplyanalyzed. After summarizing and analyzing the latest research status of PLE at home and abroad,it was pointed out that most of current PLEs rely heavily on learners themselves, and overlookteachers’ direction and the idea of adding teacher role in PLE was proposed.2. Design of service mode, structure model framework, role assignment and function module. Afterdeeply analyzing cloud computing and cloud learning, PLE framework based on cloud learningwas established and cloud computing-based PLE service mode, structure model framework, roleassignment and function module were analyzed and designed.3. Implementation of cloud computing-based PLE. In this paper, using cloud operating system,EyeOs, as basic platform, a cloud computing-based PLE was built up by integrating creatively virtual learning environment, Moodle, and EyeOs, which ensures that learners can switchsmoothly among a variety of learning tools and sustainable collaborative communication in PLE.4. Application analysis of cloud computing-based PLE. In this paper, learners’ learning activityprocess was designed in the cloud computing-based PLE and taking principles of computerorganization as an example, the analysis of learners’ learning effect was carried out.
