Local Vocational Colleges are vocational institutions organized by local governments.As a special type of education, Local Vocational Colleges have three characteristics:First, Local Vocational Colleges belong to higher education,therefore, they function ashigher education institutions.Second, Local Vocational Colleges belong to vocational education, therefore, theyhave many features as vocational education institutions.Third, they are regional, therefore, they base on and service for the local.From the three characteristics above, it’s clear that the development of local economyis close related to the Local Vocational Colleges. Therefore, it’s their duty to service thelocal,and helping the local economy. The tasks of Local Vocational Colleges are: tocultivate talents, to improve the local educational level, and to service for the localeconomy. It’s because of those advantages that many local governments develop more andmore vocational colleges in their own area. Local Vocational Colleges and Localdevelopment of economy is tightly related.The author has been working in a local vocational college for seven years. Theexperience and reserch on Local Vocational Colleges she had, the documentation method,the case-study method, and the comparison method she used, the case of YingtanVocational College she studied, have helped her to fully analyse the problems that cameout when the college served the local economy. Meanwhile, she also provides the solutionsto the problems.The thesis has five chapters. ChapterⅠ: the general introducton of international anddomestic research on the topic.
