Zhao Zongfu is one of the most important people in Chinese contemporary history, and he also takes a significant position in Shan Xi educational history.Zhao Zongfu had a rich and color history which is full of legend. He was born in a rich and powerful family. But he gave up everything to do underground activities supporting Chinese Communist Party without considering his own life. In1932when he was17years old, he joined the anti-imperialist alliance to participate in the revolution. In1933, he had joined Communist Party of China when he was18years old in Yanching University. During the War of Resistance Against Japan, Zhao Zongfu got into the swing of drive the aggressors out of China. In fifty years of his lifetime, his educational work took his25years. He worked as an academic dean, Chief in middle school, Provincial Superintendent of Education, university president. His educational experience was long and rich which strided across old age and new age. It takes his the other half of his life.In this paper Zhao Zongfu’s educational thought could be divided into two parts by using time,1949. Before1949Zhao Zongfu not only hired good teachers and open new class but also encouraged his teachers and students to have the democratic idea. He built the school for fostering the students’patriotic sentiment. And he believed the teacher who had the faith and had the courage to sacrifice himself for the country would get respect from his students and effect them. Since1949Zhao Zongfu’s educational practice and thought can be concluded from five aspects which is his style of work, career, experience of resist, respecting person with ability and his achievement. It will be good for Shan Xi’s education, if we could deeply dig into the content of his educational activities and thoughts. Especially it could provide a flatform for combing the entire higher education, setting a vision and clear direction and carrying forward the fine tradition.
