In recent years, with the huge development of the coastal areas and the advanceof urbanization, a large number of fishermen lost of sea waters and intertidal zonewhich they had used for a long time, namely the known sea-lost and become thesea-lost fishermen. Many fishermen were forced to abandon the fishery production, toswitch to other products, to become new citizen. One of the most common way iswithdrawing village and building city community on the spot. Since the relevantprotection system of the sea-lost fishermen has defects, the relevant laws are almostabsent and the thinking of developing but not protecting the sea, the rights andinterests of the sea-lost fishermen are harmed seriously. They had become a newvulnerable groups of society in China. Can the sea-lost fishermen successfully adaptto the unique way of life in city? Whether they successful complete the transformationfrom the fisherman status to the resident? Whether they complete the adjustment inthe psychology and form the sense of belonging to new domain as soon as possible?All of these problems are worthy of seriously studied by academic circles andgovernment departments.This paper selects typical communities of sea-lost fishermen--DevelopmentZone of Qingdao city as study site. In recent years, with the construction of thenational first-class Economic and Technological Development Zone as the goal, theDevelopment Zone continues to promote the process of development.Because of theadvance of all kinds of developing projects, thousands of sea-lost fishermen settledown into the city community every year. The investigation was completed in threetypical communities which are named the Nanying, Yantaiqian and Shanli. We tookthe way of entering family. A total of200questionnaires were issued,200 questionnaires were recovered, the recovery rate was100%, of which191validquestionnaires, the effective recovery rate is95.5%. On the basis of the survey, thedata were processed by SPSS18.0software. In addition, we interviewed manyresidents throughly in three times in line with their community,age,profession andgender.This paper firstly introduced the background,significance and purpose of theresearch, followed by a summary of correlative research at home and abroad. Wefound from the summary that the research on adaption to the city of the sea-lostfishermen is not enough, such as the weak systematicness and lack of research onliving example. The third part introduced the related concepts, related theories andhypotheses, to lay a solid theoretical foundation for this research. The fourth partmainly introduced the situation of urbanization of the research area and the reasons ofselecting that area, briefly introduced the design of the questionnaire in this paper, theprocess of forming the final questionnaire through the distinction and reliability test ofthe preliminary questionnaire. The fifth part and the sixth part are the key content ofthis research. The fifth part tested the economic level, social level and psychologicallevel of adaption to city of sea-lost fishermen, and had summarized the uniquepatterns of adaption. In the sixth part, the influencing factors were analyzed carefully.The drawbacks of the study and the direction of further efforts were also discussed.Conclusions of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the sea-lost fishermen’ in QDETDZ occupational adaptation is not ideal.Most of them are in labor market of low level, have heavy employment obstacles andsingle career path; Although the overall satisfaction of their income is not high, theself-assessment of the economic status is high with reference to the peasant-workers;Social interaction shows strong homogeneity and introversion, social participation isnot high, the basic way of life has been basically convergence of urban residents, buthave not adapted the deep-rooted rules and consciousness of the city; Theexpectations of becoming the real City people and the reality adaptation are inconflict.Secondly, there two influence factors influencing sea-lost fishermen’city adaption, own factor and external factor. Their own factors includes age, humancapital, traditional thinking and etc. External factors includes lack of social support,different community types, centralized resettlement mode, nonenough communitymanagement and etc.
