Regional stereotype as one of important area of stereotype studies gain more and more attention in recent years. Actually, the regional stereotype studies have its special significance in China, because China has a long history of culture, vast territory and very different customs in the North, South, East and West. Although there were many studies which tried to give us some evidences of regional stereotype in some special areas (such as Shanghai, Jiangsu, Gansu, Inner Mongolia) in past a few years, we still haven’t see any systematic researches to explore regional stereotype among provinces at so far. This study is aiming to do some efforts in this field. The study is divided into three main parts:the part1explores the existence of the regional stereotype and analyses how these stereotypes come out in explicit perspective by the tool of Implicit Association Test (IAT) and Freely Association Questionnaire. Part2use the tool of Stereotypic Explanatory Bias (SEB) try to verify the existence of the regional stereotype among provinces of China furthermore from implicit view. Part3use some tools, like Implicit Association Test (IAT), to test the stability of regional stereotype. Besides, we also want to explore if Perspective Taking can influence the stability of regional stereotype. The results show that,Firstly, regional stereotype among provinces do exist, people usually have different evaluations to different provinces.Secondly, the influence factors of the source of regional stereotype are diversity. Personal experience, Television and Internet are the main source in the origins of people’s attitude.Thirdly, the research2shows that Shandong people have a strong implicit preference to inner-group. On the contrary, Henan people appear obvious out-group preference to Shandong people. The research results show that Henan people have a polarized attitude to their inner-group.Finally, experiments show that both explicit regional stereotype and implicit regional stereotype have strong stability. It’s hard to give a significant impact on regional stereotype only by simple, limited Perspective Taking.
