With the implement of the Specially Contracted Teachers’ Plan, many of these teachers have become a main force in rural areas’ teaching and a pillar for developing information-based teaching. This thesis uses one of the specially contracted teachers in a rural school as a case to analyze the development of his information-based teaching ability. It includes the stages for reserving information, focusing on its application, learning and imitating, transferring and integrating. It finds out that the development of specially contracted teachers’ information technology teaching often goes through three stages:pre-service training, on-the-job training and autonomous learning. Besides, the study analyzes the factors that influence these teachers’ information-based teaching. They are personal factors such as teachers’ developing wishes, basic technological skills and self-reflection, and external factors such as pre-service training, on-the-job-training, ect. Based on the above analysis and discussion, this thesis finally put forward five suggestions on promoting information and technology teaching in rural areas: completing the system for post-service training, providing more information-based hardware equipment for the case’s school, providing the help theory knowledge on education and institution, enhancing school-based teaching and studying, and reducing the amount of their work.
