Shanghai Part Of The Status Quo In Small Groups Of University Students Basketball And Countermeasures

With the rapid development in politics, economy and culture in today’s society,people’s demands for sport activity have been increasing. Basketball is greatly lovedby many people especially among youngsters of high school and university and hasbecome one of favourite sports in campus because of strong participation in masses,strong physical confrontation, high entertainment and low field requirement.Since1949, basketball developed fast and spread widely. The overall level,status and form in university has changed dramatically these years:“small basketballgroups” become basic organization as one form of basketball activities in Shanghaiuniversity students and frequently appears in their daily life and study period.This paper will study “small basketball groups”samples done in eight universitylike Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University, East Chian Normal University,Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai University, Shanghai University of Technology,Donghua University and Shanghai Institute of Technology. This paper chooses toobserve the current situation of small basketball groups in Shanghai universitystudents by reviewing, survey, statistics, logic analysis and so on.The study finds out that first, there is a serious imbalance in sexual ratio of“small basketball groups”, the number of boys is greater than girls and most of themare between20and30years old. Second, complicated, loose organization exists in itwith big fluidity. They are classmates or friends and usually have one or two leaders.Third, a plenty of outdoor activities are offered by schools to fulfill student’s basicneed for basketball, social skill, entertainment and exercises. Fourth, students arelack of basketball knowledge and they seldom receive guidance from professionals.Fifth, very few opportunity is offered to participate in real match and there areconflicts in terms of using basketball playground.Therefore, this paper’s advise to take the following measures: first, schoolsshould give guidance for “small basketball groups” to improve their sense ofexistence. Second, enforce the connections between “small basketball groups” andenlarge its influence. Third, cultivate informal groups’ basketball senses. Fourth, reform sport system to apply PE teachers’ guidance. Fifth, organize various matchesfor “small basketball groups”. Sixth, open more school stadiums to “small basketballgroups”.
