Tourism is an integrative industry of high coverage, long production chain, high connectivity and strong driving force. It plays a vital role in keeping increase, enlarging domestic demands, changing production mode, increasing employment rate and benefiting people. Developing tourism can be a driving force for the change of economic development mode, and overcome some major conflict occurred in economic development and ecology and resources shortage. It accords with China national strategy to build up resource-conserving and environment-friendly society. Yunnan has long been a big tourism province in China, and it has been keeping its development goal to build up its distinctive brand image. In particular, since the Eleventh Five-year Plan, with the measure of "Using big project to lead development", a structure of tourism being integrated with the first, second and third industry was formed. This is referred as "Macro tourism structure, and broad tourism orientation". Therefore tourism has become a competitive industry, a driving industry and an industry to enrich people.However, there is a big gap between Yunnan tourism personnel management and the target of developing Yunnan into a tourist destination which is "First class in China and renowned around the world". This is due to the geological environment and the shortage of talents, as well as the mismatching of progressive talents cultivation and the fast development of high-quality tourism products and brand strategies. To develop tourism, it is important to have high-quality personnel. Supply of qualified people is vital for tourism development in Yunnan. In tourism industry, provision and quality of elements such as food, accommodation, transportation, travel, purchasing and entertainment rely on qualified people. Unfortunately there is a big margin in Yunnan tourism industry human resources on the aspects of total capacity, quality and structure. Only when these factors are integrated and promoted can the construction of tourism resources in Yunnan be more effective and powerful, which will consequently add vigor and vitality to tourism in Yunnan. This research topic is chosen with a consideration of the above reasons.This thesis adopts a comprehensive analysis approach to analyze tourism personnel cultivation strategy in Yunnan Province. It objectively analyzed the present situation of tourism personnel in Yunnan, as well as problems existing in tourism industry. Based on the analysis on factors affecting personnel development, some suggestions are proposed for tourism personnel cultivation and management.
