Writing is very important for everyone. It is indispensable for people to express theirfeelings, transmit information and take examination even when they are looking for a job andwanting a promotion as well in their life. New Curriculum pays great attention to the cultivationof students’ writing ability. It considers writing ability a manifestation of students’ languagecomprehensive literacy. The junior high school stage is not only a critical period to cultivatewriting skills, but also the standardization of primary school students’ writing and composition.It helps them to master four commonly used literary forms, in the meantime, lays the foundationfor the free writing in their high school stage.However, the current situation of the junior high school students’ essay is not so optimistic.Their essay problems under the background of new curriculum are the focus of this paper. It setsabout from the survey that among the junior high school students. Then it analyzes the results ofthe questionnaire and sums up the problems exist in their essays. Combined with the interview ofChinese teachers in middle school, the paper holds perspective views on the reason of theproblems and proposes the suggestion to solution.The whole essay is divided into four sections. The first section illustrates the importance ofwriting and its related concepts; the significance of the Chinese course in our country makingprovision and inquiry on writing teaching based on the new problems in junior high schoolstudents’ writing with the new curriculum. And the second chapter is the questionnaire surveyand the statistics and analysis of the questionnaire results which conclude a few problemsappeared in the students’ essay: excursive extracurricular reading interest and writing interest;writing material sources lacking subjective experience; the lack of stylistic awareness; andessays lacking of genuine feeling. The third chapter dialyzes the reason why these problems existin junior high school students’ writing and focus on analyzing the reasons in the teachers’ aspect:teachers overlooking the directive function of the new curriculum; their unclear compositionteaching objectives; the lack of specific direction in composition teaching; network rejecting outof composition teaching; teachers’ more attention on the teaching of reading; markingcompositions not strictly. Finally the fourth Chapter proposes improvement advice for middleschool writing teaching based on the new curriculum.
