With the development of New Curriculum Reform in senior high school, teaching methods of Chinese writing lessons need to be promoted and renewed. As one branch of the thesis, new material writing tests students’ overall abilities, such as analyzing ability, comprehension skill, logic thinking, and expressive ability. Therefore, material writing lessons in Chinese study become increasingly important and are highly valued. Judging by the present material writing training, we face the problems of the thinking, wording, and organizing stereotypes, as well as the challenges of reservation shortage, single perspective and thinking solidification. As a result, this paper analyzes the current situations of material writing education, identifies the problems and then puts forward some solutions.Based on the basic knowledge of new material writing in senior high school, this paper firstly analyzes the teaching characteristics, recognizes its status in College Entrance Examination, and then identifies its new trends. Later, combined with the basic categories of the new material writing, topic assigning characteristics are analyzed from the following two aspects:material type and material quantity. Next, this paper focuses on students’ difficulties in essence capturing, material using, topic selecting and type choosing, as well as on teachers’ difficulties’ in their teaching methods and approaches. Finally, offered the usage of scaffolding in new material writing, teachers and students are enabled to find a practical way by setting goals, capturing situational essence and exploring writing skills.
