I choose Chinese-style pragmatism as the research object in this article, actually, would like to take it as a beginning or a breaking point of my own attempt on the road of the "cultural awareness", and do some something of my own thinking on sociology localization or local social. As a Chinese Cultural, we can’t be able to reflect on ourselves and develop our own very well except we stand on the basis of truly recognize of our culture. Further, we can self-awareness and self-creation in cultural angle.Pragmatism has always been considered imported from western countries major in United States, the domestic research takes much focus in learning the Western theory, not study the relative things in Chinese history and culture. Pragmatism seems limited to academic discussions, and much far apart with Chinese culture and daily life. As we all know, Pragmatism is not a simple mercenary or interests above everything else, neither pure reason nor instrumentality out of the people and society. History tells us that all the material and spiritual civilization created is beginning with increasing human interests, and aims to reduce threaten to the human health, the emergence and development of pragmatism is no exception, as well.I will take three points of view of the political, ideological, and economic to discover the develop context of the pragmatism thought existed in the traditional Chinese society, in order to prove the pragmatism is nothing new, but the indigenous Chinese philosophy in China with a long history. Due to the characteristics of Chinese culture, pragmatism has long been highly life, whether an individual’s day-to-day interactions, or foreign relations of the country, are deeply marked by the stigma of Chinese-style pragmatism. The value orientation of social interaction as a complete set for guidance system, its main features include:The stakeholders only, Rules of conduct flexibility and Goals reached inert. The stakeholders only is the individual involved in the interaction, any response of the outside world is made by each based on their own interests. In order to achieve theirs’ own interests, man will do their best to make the Way and rules of conduct be flexible as much as possible to play, that is so-called "woolly-headed" we can see in general. Once the self-interest can be achieved, man will take repulsive attitude to change the existing rules and redistribution, Embodied that they will try to delay the arrival of the changes, even last resort when the need to reform or revolution can’t stop. The most conservative and slowly transition form is the most greeted way of the interest-owner, for this can make sure the existing pattern of interests smooth transition and minimize damage, which is the so-called goal inert. This paper analyzed some of the hot issues on the current society based on the basic characteristics of pragmatism, and found, in fact, the people not changed, but the society. Society is not simply made up of individuals, there are still a variety of organizations such as the state, the company, etc., and everyone lives into the organization. So, they play a pivotal role in China’s current social life, the organization’s rules on personal activities enormous force, once there has been a change in the rules of the organization or even distorted, it will lead individuals to protect their own interests and change their own behavior, but this is a personal self-protection initiatives, has nothing to do with ethics.Understanding of my own is a very long road, and explore pragmatism in the local Chinese community is one of the first attempt. After sustained self-awareness and self-examination, we may be able to make it to be true that "Share each beauty, Praise others’ beauty, Come together, Make the world harmony."...
