Hubei, Henan, Anhui, District Basketball Match Sustainable Development Research

Hubei-Henan-Anhui Soviet Area is located in the boarder of Henan, Anhui and Hubei province. ThisDabie mountains area is the old Revolutionary Area. Recent years, the government has strengthened itssupport constantly to facilitate the development of the old revolutionary base areas, including thedevelopment of the local economy and the construction of a harmonious society. Along with thedevelopment of the local economy and the improvement of people’s living standard, an increasing numberof people have realized the importance of physical exercising and travelling.In order to further develop the red sports games and facilitate the diversification of the basketballculture, local citizens of the Hubei-Henan-Anhui Revolutionary Area are participating actively to promotesports activities for the general public. For example, the Hubei-Henan-Anhui Soviet Area basketball match,of which has been successfully held for eight years till2012,has drawn a lot of attention of the public. Thisessay intends to analyze the history and current situation of Hubei-Henan-Anhui Soviet Area basketballmatch from a more sustainable point of view by using literatures, expert interviews, questionnaires,mathematical statistics and logical analysis, to explore the living environment, status quo and influencingfactors of basketball matches, as well as giving corresponding suggestions. The main findings are asfollows:1. The Hubei-Henan-Anhui Soviet Area Basketball Match has a long history. It is an influential redsports event.2. The influential factors for the living environment of the match include the political environment,the social environment, the economic environment and the cultural environment.3. The general status of the Hubei-Henan-Anhui Soviet Area Basketball Match can be defined asbeneficial for its sustainable development whereas there are still some problems.4. The influential factors for the sustainable development of the match include the managementsystem, the competition system, the judgment, the facilities and the level of emphasis of the local leaders.5. The corresponding solutions may include: setting up a viable administrative mechanism;completing the competition system; establishing a training system for the judges; raising sports fund from the local government, expanding the medium coverage; creating the basketball culture and establishing ahealthy basketball environment.6. The unbalance between teams from different areas is also a problem. This mainly dues to the lackof media campaingns of the participating teams. Although the sponsors have done enough promotion, theresult is still far from enough.Suggestions:1. To set up a scientific outlook on development, and every city and county government should giveenough support from the macroscopic perspective.2. There should not be competitions between different city(county) governments. Instead, theyshould be conservative of the use of funds according to their own status.3. There should be a restriction for the external assistance. All referees need to be well trained.4. There should be more media coverage to put emphasis on the construction of the basketballculture. At the same time, the cultivation of values of both the participates and the basketball fans shouldalso be taken into consideration.
