On Shame Education Of College Student

The sense of shame is the individual subjective feelings of shame. As a kind of moral emotion, the sense of shame is an important part of Chinese traditional culture. As an important moral defense, it is the ethics concept which has been combined with Chinese blood. The sense of shame in human morality plays an important role, and it always affects people’s lives. On March4,2006, General Secretary Hu Jin tao visited the Committee members who attended National People’s Political Consultative Conference in ten of the four session of the committee. He put forward "Eight Honors and Eight Disgraces" as the main content of the socialist concept of honor and Disgrace. He emphasizes to guide broad cadre masses especially adolescents to build up the socialist concept of honor and Disgrace in our socialist society.Based on the ideological and political education’s point of view, and from the cultural connotation of the culture of shame, this paper defines the meaning of shame and shame on the comparison and analysis of various viewpoints. Based on the full study on the western history basis, it discusses the modern concept of shame under the background of the modern connotation of the construction of socialist modernization. Shame culture is thousands of years, and it has new lease of life and vigor in the modern context, that is because its existence is of the individual value and social value。The value of existence, control and moral value constitute the individual value of shame. Good customs and dependence for our motherland is the affirmation of social value of shame. This paper also attempts to define the education of shame. Education of shame is to cultivate people’s sense of shame through certain teaching methods or means in everyday life, to inspire people’s sense of honor, and to make people consciously form a sense of shame to distinguish honor from disgrace. The education of shame is of far-reaching significance to college students, because it has three major functions of incentive, condensation, and preventing deterioration. In other words, educating college students to carry out the education of shame can make them to have a sense of shame, and to know what is right and what is wrong.This article obtains first-hand information through the questionnaire of college students, and has the full understanding of present situation of shame of the students. It is concluded, combining with the current hot issues and my work, confusion, desalination and deviation of shame are currently the main problems of distress in College students. Therefore, this article attempts to find the reasons from economy, politics, culture, education, history and other aspects. That is, the impact of unfavorable factors of the market economy, the imperfect of evaluation mechanism and the social system, the shame crisis caused by the background of network culture, the error of the ideological and political education, limitations of traditional moral and indifference of excellent traditional morality.College students, who are shouldering the socialist modernization heavy responsibility, are the future and hope of our motherland. It is a critical period of the formation of moral values, thus it is crucial for finding favorable measures for College Students’ education of shame. First of all, to enrich the content, improve the ideological and political education theory system. Namely, to make the past serve the present and absorb the essence of traditional culture of disgrace; to make foreign things serve China and absorb western guilt culture beneficial ingredient; to reform and perfect the system of socialist concept of honor and disgrace. Secondly, this article discusses how to cultivate the sense of shame and form good morality from the four elements of ideological and moral formation:knowledge, emotion, will, action, etc. Finally, it is concluded that improving the effectiveness of shame sense education, family education is the basics, school education is the key, the social education is the guarantee, and channels of shame education should also be enriched.
