A Research Into Badminton Project Being Carried Out In The High Schools Of Ji’an City, Jiangxi Province

Objective: Nowadays, our country is continuing to strengthen itscomprehensive strength. In a positive response to the national call"Every day an hour of exercise, a healthy living lifetime" at the sametime, people treat physical exercise as an indispensable part of theirdaily life. However, the role of the college entrance examination "baton",coupled with the prevalence of examination-oriented education in China,has led to an indisputable fact that the student’s physical health iscontinuing to decline due to the students’ busy work and lack of physicalexercise, Therefore, it’s a priority to strengthen the guidance ofphysical exercise and increase the physical health of the youth. In recentyears, the badminton movement in the school has been gradually promotedand gaining its popularity, becoming one of the students’ favorite sportsactivities. High school students are developing rapidly physiologicallyand psychologically, they would like their movements to be active, stylish,elegant and beneficial physically and mentally. Badminton is justsuitable for them. Badminton meets the needs of students in health andbeauty, promoting the physical and mental health of students, buildingup their personality, enhancing the overall quality of students andquality of life. In the promotion of quality education today, schoolsbadminton is regarded as an effective means to improve the overall qualityof students.Methods: By means of historical data, questionnaires, interviews andother methods, draw a cognitive status of the students for the schoolbadminton project carried out in part of the high schools in Ji’an City,Jiangxi Province, analyze the status of students participating inbadminton, explore problems and shortcomings of carrying out the projectin the high schools in Ji’an City, Jiangxi Province, and find out waysand means to solve the problems and provide a theoretical basis forbadminton being better carried out in future in high schools, Ji’an City,Jiangxi Province.Results:1) Badminton has become heated among high school students in Ji’an City, owning a high proportion of boys and girls in various sportsand a diverse access to information of badminton. The motivation variesfor them to participate in badminton.2) As is surveyed, the situation isnot optimistic with the badminton courses being opened in high schoolsof Ji’an City, but the students have high expectations for the openingof Badminton Elective, many students also expressed their willingness toparticipate in badminton elective.3) As a whole, the playing field forbadminton can not meet the needs of the students in Ji’an City high schools.The utilization and service time of the venues are not high to students,and the supply of the badminton equipment is far from ideal.4) In Ji’anCity, the overall teachers’ sex ratio and age structure are reasonable,tending to be younger with academic qualifications in line with the sportsteaching needs, while it suffers from the lack of professional badmintonteachers, it enjoys a high overall learning ability. Many teachers oftentake part in the badminton competition and self-training. However, thefunding situation is not ideal.5) The situation remains general forafter-school badminton tournament being carried out in Ji’an City highschools, and the propaganda is not enough; the schools have high attitudestoward the municipal Badminton tournament, but there’re no amateurbadminton school teams, because there’s been a long interval for badmintoncompetitions in the Ji’an City Games, also it lacks other forms ofsecondary Badminton competitions.6) Lack of venues and facilities, thelearning pressure, too little disposable time, higher consumption andlack of guidance have become major factors of Ji’an City high schoolstudents to participate in badminton.7) Lack of venues and facilities,ignorance from the leading group, lack of professional teachers havebecome the most important impact of Ji’an City high school badminton beingcarried out.
