Research On The Factors Of Expired Graduation Doctoral Student

Doctoral training is the highest level of graduate education in our country, whichnot only reflects the high education level of one country, but also reflects the scientificresearch research level of one country.In series of problems with the increasing of thedoctors’ scale, the phenomenon of a large number of doctors not graduated are commonin recent years, which has become a hot topic of social concern. There exists complexand various reasons in Doctors extending gradutation. It is worth making research thathow to strengthen the high education management and bring up qualified doctors inprovided time, as well as decrease the number of extended gradutates.This research methods mainly include comprehensive induction, descriptivestatistical analysis, qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as empirical researchmethod. Through summarizing research status, the significant factors influcing doctorsgraduation are concluded and extended into "independent variables" of the probabilitymodel. Based on Logistic Regression algorithm and establish the probabilitymathematical model of doctors extending to graduate, moverover, establish theextended probabilistic model of the doctors of engineering (mechanical engineeringdisciplines) and management science respectively. The the sample data are selected2009-2012doctoral graduation data from echnology mechanical engineering disciplinesand management disciplines. The field data of initial index variable are preprocessedand given the corresponding value. Logistic regression analysis are made through theuse of SPSS software. By the comparation, the results are that the significant factorsaffecting four years’ enrollment include the total number of published articles (includingthe total publication of SCI and EI, other total articles), the courses GPA at the stage ofdoctoral degree, the opening times of doctoral thesis (if pressed at the predeterminedtime or not). While the factors of gender, the sources of candidate (whether graduatingstudents or not), enrollment patterns (whether open auditionor not), raw teachers ratio(the number of students guided by tutors), masters institution level (whether985highcolledge or not) are not significant.Based on the probability mathematical model of doctors extending to graduate, thisresearch makes an analysis of the factors about doctoral extended graduate, to providesuggestions for doctoral education management and make references to make relevantpolicies. Meanwhile, the warning mechanism and system of doctoral extendedgraduation have been established so as to identify the probability of extended doctoralgraduation and strengthen the supervision and management in the following works, soas to make more students focus on completing the thesis research. Moreover, Throughregulatory and incentive, doctors can be promoted to make final sprint and finish theirgraduation as soon as possible. The results of this research can directly offer practices in doctoral training and management in Harbin Institute of Technology. If the effect of thisresrearch result is good, it can be properly promoted. The improved managementmechanisms can offer references for other universities and have a strong practical value.
