Since the1960’s,the living conditions of Aboriginal began to attract the wholeworld’s attention.Canada is a multi-ethnic country, it is one of the countries of theworld which began to focus on the issue of Aboriginal education earlier. Canadiangovernment introduced a lot of public policies and programs to fund a number ofAboriginal education projects,greatly improved the living condition of Aboriginal.The thesis applies literature review,history research and comparative research.The study attempts to show the development of Canadian Aboriginal education,withthe purpose of researching the successful experience and short comings,which canbring some inspiration to the development of China’s ethnic minority education.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part is an introduction, describes thereason for choosing this topic,as well as domestic and international research status ofthis topic and research methods. The second part is the research background ofCanadian Aboriginal education policy before the1980s by the process of assimilationinto the evolution of autonomous. The third section describes the specific policymeasures for Aboriginal education in Canada after the1980s, focusing on four bills toelaborate and comment them.Part IV reviewed the status of implementation ofAboriginal policy, summed its achievements,the problems and the challenges of theimplementation of the policy. The fifth part introduce that new initiatives forAboriginal education development in the autonomous system.Part VI is theconclusion,offers some suggestions on how to learn from the Canadian Aboriginaleducation.
