A New Path Of Professional Development For Contemporary Class Teachers

This study is based on the practice of two class teachers workshops that is "Colorful Rainbow Class teachers Workshop" and "Rambler Class teachers Workshop".And using "adult learning theory" and "individual practice theory" to analyze the possibility of class teachers workshop to promote professional development of class teachers.The main research method is interview and participant observation.According to class teachers’ present survival condition and the disadvantages of traditional class teachers’training,the method of class teachers workshop tries to make use of the cooperation of university and primary(middle)school to change class teachers’survival condition,improve their life quality and form the driving force of their continuous development. The aim of class teachers workshop is "relaxation,plentifulness,happiness and meaningfulness" through developing various kinds of activities to meet class teachers’intellectual and emotional requirements.This study provides an example for contemporary (class) teachers’training and enriches the practical study of professional development of class teachers.And this study consists of four parts:Chapter1begins with stating why I choose studying this subject,which is as follows:the present situation of development of class teachers;the problems of teachers’ training;the possibility of class teachers’workshop to promote professional development of class teachers. And then summarizes relevant literatures of professional development of class teachers both in homeland and abroad as well as analyzes this study’s reacher method and trains of thought.Chapter2analyzes the theoretical basis and main meaning of class teachers workshop.In this part we absorb many thoughts of "individual practice theory" and "students’growth need theory" to select appropriate ways for class teachers development according to the characteristics of adult learning.It mainly discusses the meaning of class teaches workshop from the aspects of aims,value ranking as well as its characteristics.Chapter3mainly introduces the practice of "Colorful Rainbow Class Teachers Workshop" and "Rambler Class Teachers Workshop",which work and achieve some efforts under the guidance of the principles discussed above.Based on interview materials and teachers’online forums to analyze class teachers workshop’s efforts as followed aspects:professional knowledge,professional ability,professional emotion and personality.Chapter4based on two practical examples analyzes the important value of class teachers workshop as a possible method for the professional development of class teachers.And we find that class teachers workshop has great influences on teachers by caring for class teachers’emotion,building cultural environment and fostering class teachers’life self-consciousness.In this part we also discusses the challenges faced in the practice of class teachers’workshop and the factors contribute to the challenge.Aimed at solving those problems this study puts forward some proposals to make the class teaches’ workshop work better.
