| Considering current educational system in China, the class teacher, mainly takes charge of the class management and the first responsibility to establish the relationship between schools and students. The class teacher is also the one to have a lifelong impact on students. Class teacher’s professional level directly affects the class management and students’ full development. Promoting class teachers’ professional development plays a crucial role on quality education.Supported by a lot of literature review and core concept learning, this paper defines the class teacher professional development as a process of the joint efforts of the society and the individual. Teachers’ professional philosophy, knowledge, ability, professional development consciousness are all included. As the external institutional guarantee such as teacher qualification, appointment, training, dedicated teacher positions are also necessary.To analyze the current situation of teacher professional development, the author focuses on three dimensions, the basic situation of teacher team, professional level, professional construction to design the questionnaire. And selected 108 class teachers to complete the survey,90 copies are returned,90 copies are effective. By analysis the questionnaires, the author finds that the profession of class teacher is ignored, and professional training is to carry out only by teaching research group. Class teachers professional development is worrying. So the author suggest establishing class teachers professional image and enhance their quality. Promoting teachers professional development is practically significant. It is helpful to improve class teachers working situation.This paper is mainly divided into the following three parts.Part 1, Interpreting the connotation of class teachers’ professional development. And some referred core concept such as "profession" and "class teacher". The professional development means a maturing process in professional knowledge, competence, ethic and affection.Part 2, Asking 108 teachers selected from four schools to finish questionnaires to reveal the difficulties on the way of professionalization. And list the reasons:the public ignore the professional status of class teacher., the job is too complex, and there is not enough training activities.Part 3, Offering some strategies. The professionalize development of class teachers requires not only personal efforts, but also lots of outside supports. Cultivating professional feelings and ethics and improving class teachers’professional knowledge and competence call for the cooperation of internal and external factors. |
