Task-Based Language Teaching aims at encouraging Chinese learners to finishtheir due quota in class, a process directed by teachers. Compared to the traditionalone, it not only provides specific demand but also an opportunity to help learners tospeak Chinese, practice Chinese. Consequently, the fostered learning autonomy notonly the participation but also develop their leaning interest and initiative, which canbe a significant solution to the predicament. To achieve better teaching results in Chinese class, teachers can use a Task-BasedLanguage Teaching. In Indonesia, the students are generally more introverted,so it the key for teachers to get students to open their mouths and start speaking.Through participation in certain tasks, Indonesian students can unconsciously improvetheir Chinese communication skills. To achieve these goals, teachers should selectsome topics relevant and appropriate to the task and form of the lesson; and beforeteachers have decided the form, they should give consideration to the student’sChinese level and the class’ atmosphere. In particular, choosing topics of interest tothe students, and using pictures in a way that will stimulate the enthusiasm of thestudents, are both very important.According to Task-Based Language Teaching theory, I made practice in theChinese class for high school students in Hanjiang School. The innovation is that thetopic is focus on the single-nationality students in Indonesia, but due to lack ofteaching experience and wider practical demonstration, there are still somedeficiencies.
