This paper titles " Research on Cai Yuanpei’s vocational education thoughts-based on the Marxist theory: Free and All-round Human Development ", explores indepth Cai Yuanpei’s vocational education thoughts from the historical, theoretical,epochal, and practical perspectives, using systematical analysis method andmaterialistic dialectics, utilizing the research methods of unifying history and logic,philosophical thinking and political analysis. Meanwhile, based on the theory of theMarxist all-round human development, this paper also studies and explores therelationship between Marx’s theory of human comprehensive development and Mr. CaiYuanpei’s vocational education thoughts and their influence on the future vocationaleducation, so as to provide some theoretical and ideological guidance on thedevelopment of Cai Yuanpei vocational education thoughts in the new era. It can bedivided into four parts:Part One: the relationship between Marxist free and comprehensive developmenttheory and Cai Yuanpei’s vocational education thoughts. First, it briefly introduces themain idea of Marx’s free and comprehensive development theory. Second, it states theresearch value of the paper from the following three aspects:1) the basis of theselection of the topic;2) the significance, value, and the research status;3) the train ofthought and the methods of the paper.Part Two: the background conditions of Cai Yuanpei’s vocational educationthoughts and theory origin, influential factors. It first analyzes the vocationaleducation’s situation in modern China, and then expounds the background conditions,theory origin, and influential factors of Cai Yuanpei’s vocational education thoughts.Part Three: the main contents and characteristics of Cai Yuanpei’s vocationaleducation thoughts. First, it explores the main contents of Cai Yuanpei’s vocational education thoughts from the following six aspects:"’useful’ thought","science andtechnology thought of learning", work ethics education, women’s vocational educationthoughts, farmers’ vocational education and vocational education in primary schools.Then, it analyzes in depth the characteristics of Cai Yuanpei’s vocational educationthoughts with further illustration from three aspects.Part Four: the epochal characteristics and historical indications of Cai Yuanpei’svocational education thoughts. From the Marxist theoretical perspective, it points outthe relationship between Marx’s theory of free and comprehensive development andCai Yuanpei’s vocational education thoughts: the latter is the reproduction of theformer, while the former is the prophecy of the latter. It also discusses the influence ofCai Yuanpei’s vocational education thoughts on the future vocational education, underthe theoretical framework of Marx’s theory of free and comprehensive humandevelopment. Besides, it advocates that vocational education must help students totake the initiative to aim at all-round development, and meet the social demand.Vocational education must have a clear orientation and specific goals, combiningvocational education with productive labor, cultivating comprehensive vocationalpersonnel, and unifying all-round development and personality development.
