Research Purposes: putting forward higher requirements of core strength for swimmingmajors, trying to improve their specific physical abilities in the most efficient way.In addition, the research can also provide some references and guidance for the strength training ofswimming majors. Methods of the Research: this thesis uses the questionnaire, experimental method andmathematical statistics. The author recorded16students swimming majors who study atShenyang Sport University. All the subjects were randomly divided into comparison group andexperimental group. The experimental group used “core strength training” as a new guidingtheory for their training and participated in core strength training four times per week,eachtraining30minutes,while the comparison group still did the traditional waist strength training. Results of the Research: after twelve weeks of experiment, the speed of200-meter medley, beginning and turning around was increased. The improvement in200-metre medley was13.33±1.25, in turning around was0.57±0.16and in the beginning was0.57±0.16. There are alsodistinct differences among experimental group members, but the comparison group has nosignificant differences. Conclusions:First, After the experimental, compared with the control group, the speed of200metersindividual medley, starting and turn around, have obviously improved. It turns out the corestrength training can improve the students’ swimming speed.Second, the training of core strength could increase not only the speed of swimming, butalso that of starting and turn around.Third, From the comparison between two groups, seven of nine results assessment of corestrength capacity significant difference, this explains that core strength training can enhancetorso strength, balance and stability capabilities, muscle coordination, thereby provide support tospecial technical.
