Children 4 To 6 Years Old Facial Recognition Eye Movement

Facial expression is the concentrated reflection of individual emotions on the face. Facial expression recognition can help individuals perceive the instant reaction of others and understand others’ emotional state, so it offers some clues for their reactions and behavior choose in the social situation. The development level of facial expression recognition is not only reflected the children through it inferring the internal mental state on a certain extent, but also provided certain basis for emotional communication and social development. In general, with the improvement of social development and social cognitive abilities, it is a gradual process of ascension for children recognizing other’s facial expression.Although scholars who at home and abroad did a large number of studies on facial expression recognition, and mostly through facial image recognition results to estimate the development of facial expression recognition ability, and the whole processing and advantage part of facial expression recognition research always were intercepted or hidden certain part of the face, and then judged. Finally, according to the participants’identify performance or response time to judge whether there were advantages parts or not and what they were. But from existing research techniques and methods, which had certain limitation, and it was hard to research the real-time processing of facial expression recognition. In addition, there were little papers on the impact factors of facial expression recognition. So, the study on if the different types, age and intensity of the whole facial images presented to the participants, what is the process of facial expression recognition? Which parts can be depended? And how were influenced by the different age and intensity of facial expression?Using the technology of eye movement, recorded and analyzed the performance and eye movement data of different type, age and intensity facial expression from children who aged4-6years. The paper discussed the real-time processing, the development status and the eye movement model of the children’s facial expression recognition. Based on the division of interest areas, analyzed the advantage effect of different parts in facial expression recognition. The results showed that:(1) The children aged4to6years had certain regularity for face recognition and whose eye movement track mainly concentrated on the triangle areas of eyes, nose and mouth. But the recognition of object images was no rules to fellow.(2) The ability of facial expression recognition gradually increased with the growth of the age for children aged4to6years, and the order of facial expression recognition was happy, anger, surprise and sadness;(3) The children aged4-6years identified anger facial expression to a relatively stable level after5years old, and eye information attention gradually increased;(4) The children aged4to6years depended on differ part for different types of facial expression recognition. That is to say, the happy and surprise facial expression recognition most rely on the mouth, anger and sadness facial expression recognition mainly depend on the eye;(5) The own-age effect did not exist in all facial expression, only reflected in the sadness of the research;(6) The performance of differ intensity facial expression gradually increased with the the expression intensity increase, the fixation time and fixation point were opposite, they were reduced.
