Nowadays, the volleyball playing in universities is facing new opportunities fordevelopment with the popularization of volleyball itself in China. But in recent years,volleyball has become more and more unpopular in universities, resulting in very slowdevelopment. In comparison, volleyball is well received in American universities;NCAA Volleyball League has not only obtained additional income for universities,provided athletes with welfare, but also offered national team a number of excellentplayers. Obviously, there is a virtuous cycle of training volleyball players in the UnitedStates, from which we can learn a lot.This paper adopts literature method, survey method, mathematical statistics andcomparative law to compare the education principles, core values, management mode,competition mechanism, learning and training, recruitment system, sources of fundsand spending, and legal protection of volleyball training between China and the UnitedStates. With the trends in volleyball, the paper analyzes how volleyball could developbetter in Chinese universities.The comparison has shown lots of problems of volleyball teaching and training inChinese universities. Poor cultural basis, unsound management system, imperfectcompetition mechanism, backwards training mode, lack of fund, less legal protectionexisted. Aiming at the problems above, the paper has proposed some reform measuresbelow.1, Pay close attention to grounding, strengthen volleyball training for primary andsecondary schools, increase input in constructing facilities of venues in universities,make sure there is enough time for teaching volleyball and extracurricular activities.2, Improve the systems with clear objectives, make new regulations aboutrecruiting students, learning, race, money for the students with sports talent. Create agood environment for marketable operation of college student volleyball league.Provide policy and material security for the student players.3, Prefect the rules and regulations of volleyball league step by step. Set up a neworganization for management and facilitate its marketing operation. Cooperate withsponsors to gain more money.4, Change the training mode to make student players both good at study andsports. Set up a people oriented training mode to combine the training and higher education.
