Jiangxi Province Ordinary University Volleyball Option Class Teaching Present Situation And Reform Countermeasure Research

As one of the basic for P.E curriculum for colleges and universities, optional volleyballcourse is an integral part of university education. This paper is based on the survey andanalysis on teaching contents and teaching approaches of the optional volleyball courses in8universities of Jiangxi Province. Using literature review, questionnaires and mathematicalstatistics, this paper illustrated and analyzed the current problems, causes of the problems, andrelevant measures of optional volleyball course, so as to provide realistic evidence andtheoretical support for the policy-making towards this course, as well as providing referencefor the development of optional volleyball course in universities. Results are gained asfollows:（1）The number of college volleyball venues can not meet the teaching needs, and thecurrently existing venues are in low utilization;（2）Students are in low interest in volleyball sports, lack of relevant knowledge andparticipation; Many students are just at average level in their knowledge of volleyball tacticsand rules after taking this course.（3）In Jiangxi universities, the majority of the volleyball teachers are young ones, withbachelor’s degree and lecturer’s title, majoring in volleyball;（4）Teaching hours in Jiangxi universities for optional volleyball courses are not enough toguarantee that students can well grasp the skills of volleyball;（5）The principal teaching aims for Jiangxi optional volleyball course is to teach student tomaster skills, cultivate students’ interests. Most teachers have prepared teaching plans. Theirteaching is focused on basic techniques and tactics, and their assessment is skills-based.
