Since the1990s,curriculum reforms all over the world have placed greatemphasis on the transformation of study methods. Project-Based Learning isbecoming a world-wide theme in the education landscape.Our country’s new roundof basic curriculum reform has also presented the idea of Project-Based Learning,which also serves a key point focusing on implementing the principle ofquality-oriented education characteristic with the spirit of innovation and capability inpractice.And the students who take part in Project-Based Learning should choosefrom the natural and social phenomena or their own life,and then decide on theresearch subject under the teacher’s direction.Carrying out Project-Based Learning,under the opening condition and with various study activities of acquiringknowledge,apply knowledge and solving problems through multiple channels, canchange the students’ way of study they just accept knowledge without thinking forthemselves.It will help develop the students’ positive study attitude and strategy andalso their spirit of innovation and capability in practice.High school geography is a subject of strongly comprehensive and practicalknowledge, which suits to research study well. Geography Project-Based Learning isthe result of introducing Project-Based Learning method to Geography teaching,which ought to be of the characteristics of sufficient opening, thorough explorationand abundant practice,and of the theoretical foundations of pedagogy and psychologyas the instructions at the same time.Geography Project-Based Learning emphasizedthe priority of making good use of geographical knowledge to solve practicalproblems,to cultivate students’ practical ability of exploiting geographical knowledgeand skills,aimed at developing the innovative potential and integrating skills.The essay is firstly about the present status and its concept of Project-BasedLearning, which states the improvement of the system matching the rule of globaleducation. Additionally, the necessity, subject category, teaching form,implementation process and teaching effect of Project-Based Learning in teachingpractice of local geography are stated. Finally, the essay describes the casepresentation happening in my school.Through the above discussions,this paper seeksto provide reference in teaching practice about Project-Based Learning of localgeography for high school in the future.
